Sour Μizithra (Χinomizithra)
Sour mizithra (xinomizithra) is another traditional cheese of Naxos produced by E.A.S. Naxos.
E.A.S. Naxos uses cow milk to produce its sour mizithra. The milk curdles and the cheesemaking takes place within 24 hours after milking. The final product’s life cycle is 7 days after its packaging.
Sour mizithra is a soft cheese. Its texture is rich and creamy and its taste is slightly sour and resembles that of yoghurt. It is ideal for salads, pies and dakos.
E.A.S. Naxos’s sour mizithra is available in our garden grocery and in restaurants and hotels of Naxos.
Finally, you should know that E.A.S. Naxos’s sour mizithra is an absolutely safe product, because it is produced from pasteurized milk (just like all the other cheeses of E.A.S. Naxos).
